Kona Deep comes from a deep ocean current, 3000’ below the surface in one of the most remote and protected archipelagos in the world. This deep ocean current travels very slowly, taking 1,000 years to flow halfway around the world ultimately arriving off the coast of Hawaii.
Along its journey, this deep ocean water travels over undersea volcanic fissures and vents absorbing significant amounts of ionically charged electrolytes and trace minerals—becoming a natural part of Kona Deep.
Because the Big Island is the “youngest” Hawaiian Island, no reef has yet been formed. As a result, just off the coast of Kona Hawaii, the ocean floor falls sharply to over 3000’ below the surface. It is this geological phenomenon that allows us to access this deep ocean water in Kona and bottle it at the source.
Simple process Does Not Mean a Simple Water
Our deep ocean water is piped to our bottling facility in Kona, Hawaii on the NELHA (National Energy Laboratory of Hawaiian Authority) campus and undergoes one simple pass through reverse osmosis to remove salt before being bottled at the source.
Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses a semipermeable membrane to remove ions, molecules and larger particles from drinking water through the use of pressure. The result is that the solute is retained on the pressurized side of the membrane and the pure solvent is allowed to pass to the other side.
After desalination our water has an approximate TDS (Total Dissolved Solids) 250 mg/liter.
Unlike most electrolyte and performance waters on the market, with Kona Deep nothing is added, ever.
Natural Electrolytes from Deep Ocean Minerals
Electrolytes and minerals are essential to the function of our cells and organs. Kona Deep has a unique blend of naturally occurring deep ocean electrolytes and trace minerals that help keep your body deeply hydrated, balanced and performing as it was meant to.
With a high TDS of approximately 250, Kona Deep has a mineral count equal to that of mineral
water. Most land based waters have a TDS well under 100.
